WSET 2 Florence, Italy course description
To take the WSET Level 2 course a willingness to learn about wine and taste a LOT of it is all that is required. Level 1 is incorporated into the body of the Level 2 course so it is not obligatory to have sat Level 1. At Level 2 'Place' takes precedence: the student will look at where the “Noble Grapes” grow best - we will talk about this term in class - and we will taste the wines those grapes make, from the famous regions that produce them - such as Champagne, Chablis, Barolo, Rioja and many more. We will look at what factors contribute to making these grapes grow so beautifully... and why the wines those grapes make might have a higher price tag. We will be tasting some truly excellent and exciting wines from the best producers.
The course includes 16 hours course time, with a suggested minimum 11 hours personal study time in advance of the intensive course, and a one-hour exam.
The course will be held Friday 10:30am to 6pm with 1.5 hours for lunch, Saturday 10:30am to 6pm, and Sunday 10:30am to 5pm + 1 hour exam. We suggest you arrive in Florence at Peruzzi Residences on the Thursday evening.

Florence, Italy course location: Peruzzi Residences
This WSET course is taught in Florence, Italy. The Renaissance capital in the center of Tuscany provides a conveniently located, central backdrop for learning. This course is thus aimed both at residents of Florence and Tuscany looking for a non-residential occasion to take the exam, and at visitors from beyond Florence interested in making this course a destination.
We have chosen the newly opened Peruzzi Urban Residences in the Santa Croce area of Florence as our course location, a boutique hotel in a just-renovated 13th-century palazzo. It is owned by the Malenchini family, also owners of Villa Medicea Di Lilliano and location of their winery. Their regal living room just steps from the church of Santa Croce will be where we’ll learn about wines. We’ve reserved the whole palazzo for our group and you’ll find it like your home away from home (but better).
We have negotiated a very special rate for rooms: €250 for the 3 nights, breakfast included, for either a single or double room (best available room). Even if you’re from Florence, it’s worth making this a staycation!
Extra perks for our WSET students
As it’s going to be necessary to study the course material in advance of our intensive weekend class, you’re going to want to do so while tasting some wine. Get ahead by choosing wines of different grape varieties and provenances: we’ve gotten you this special Tannico discount code. Tannico is an Italian online wine retailer that carries a wide selection of both Italian and international wines that you may not find locally.
